On the table

Backgammon is part strategy, part luck of the dice, and one of the oldest board games still played. Two players each move 15 checkers across 24 points and try to take them all off the board first. Our set gives that old contest a proper home in a sturdy suitcase-style case.

Closed, the case is 15 by 9.5 by 2 inches. Unbuckle it and it opens to a 19 by 15 inch board with a felt playfield and leatherette points stitched into place. The soft interior resists scratches and keeps the game quiet — checkers land softly and the dice don't clatter.

Everything you need is inside: checkers, dice, a dice shaker and a doubling cube. A metal buckle holds the case shut and a leather handle makes it easy to carry to game night. Open the case and it's your move.
