Shut the Box is usually a game for two or four. We wanted everyone at the table in on it, so this version has six sides, each with its own row of numbers from 1 to 10. Up to six people can play at once, or one person can play alone against the dice.

The box is made of natural wood, solidly dyed so the color won't fade or flake. A soft black felt pad lines the rolling area and takes the clatter out of every throw. Sixteen dice are included — four wooden and twelve in colored plastic — so nobody has to wait for a pair to be passed around.

The rules are simple and easy to adapt, and the adding-up makes it a natural math game for kids. It packs neatly into its gift box for parties, classrooms, picnics and evenings away from home.
