On the table

Boards outlast pieces. Pawns roll under sofas, a queen disappears on vacation, and a perfectly good board ends up sitting idle on a shelf. This set puts it back to work: 32 tournament-style Staunton pieces handcrafted from carefully chosen natural wood, with two extra queens added for promotions.

We size the king at 3 inches and keep the queen, rooks, bishops, knights and pawns in proportion, a fit for boards between 12 and 17 inches. The surfaces are smooth to the touch, and the padded felt on each base means the pieces won't mark the board they land on. They stand steady, indoors or out.

A storage bag keeps every piece in one place and makes the set easy to carry, and we include chess instructions for anyone still learning the moves. No board comes with this set, so bring the one you have.
