On the table

Maybe a rook went missing years ago, or maybe your favorite board never had pieces worthy of it. Either way, here is a full army: 32 Staunton-style chessmen in natural wood, 16 in a light finish and 16 in a coffee tone. We make them by hand and treat the surface so each one feels smooth.

The king measures 3.15 inches, and the queen, rooks, bishops, knights and pawns step down from there in proportion. That scale pairs best with boards from 12 to 17 inches. A pad of soft felt under every piece protects your board and keeps the game free of rattle.

The set comes in a gift box with a storage bag, so the pieces stay together and travel easily. Please note the board is not included — bring your own, set them up, and it's your move.
