On the table

Some games happen far from a proper table — on a tray table, a hotel bed, a bench between meetings. For those we make this compact set in sturdy, smooth plastic. Open, the board is 10 by 10 inches; folded, it is 10 by 5 and about an inch and a half thick. The whole thing weighs 378 grams.

The board is magnetic, so the black and white pieces stay where you put them even when the surface under the board is less than steady. A printed manual explains the rules of chess in detail, which makes this an easy first set for someone who has only ever watched others play.

Every pawn is a potential queen, so we include two extra queens for the moment one makes it across. Close the board, drop it in a suitcase, and the next game is wherever you happen to be when it's your move.

What players say

Great
Great starter board i love that its magnetic because im clumsy and tend to knock things over. Very durable Great size. The board folds with the pieces stored inside making it easy to travel with so no pieces get lost. We all love it.

Great product! Would buy again!
This is great! The pieces stay on the board, and it comes with everything that it says it does! The only issue is that when you unfold the board to play with it, you have to make sure it is on a flat surface or balanced on a a surface because it doesn’t lock in place. Other than that, the pieces are great for traveling, and are light (I personally like them heavy and just a bit more dense just like a lot of other actual pieces) with a good amount of magnetic feel at the bottom.
